Taking Shipshape from 0 to 1

Taking Shipshape from 0 to 1

Here is some of the early work I did as a cofounder of Shipshape in order to turn the vision into a reality.

Traveled to Kyiv

Went to work in person with our remote team to build our product’s first version.

Early Hardware

For V1 I helped evaluate the hardware and ensure it met our business needs. I mocked up the installation processes.

I flew to Alabama to do installs with this hardware to learn firsthand about the installation experience.

Today’s Hardware

We have come a long way, and I’ve been involved in the design updates required for each new iteration of hardware.

There are screens for pairing, screens to explain how to install, tooltips that give more context about how the hardware works, and so on.

Early App

The first version of Shipshape was a web-app that could be opened on mobile. Over time we moved the dealer portion of the app to Salesforce and built our own mobile app.

Today’s Mobile App

Download our app today for Android or Apple and let me know what you think! We have come a very long way, and as one of 3 contributing designers, I can say that I’ve worked on every part of the app you see.

Summary

  • Created initial mockups and traveled to Kyiv to work directly with the team

  • Designed the information architecture for the smart home management system

  • Designed the UI that allows users to connect sensors to the Shipshape system

  • One of 3 designers that is responsible for building everything you see in the app
